Original 1959 Rory Storm and the Hurricanes Business Card
In November 1959, a 19 year old Richard Starkey joined a band called Al Caldwell's Texans, a popular Liverpool skiffle group with hopes of becoming a proper rock and roll band. Soon, they had become the Raging Texans, then Jet Storm and the Raging Texans, and finally Rory Storm and the Hurricanes... and Richard Starkey had become Ringo Starr.
In May 1960, the band was offered a residency at Butlins holiday camp in Wales, and in October a residency in Hamburg, Germany. As chance might have had it, the band was prepared to turn down this offer and continue performing in Wales--but you know the story.
In Hamburg, the band met Bruno Koschmider and played in his night club, Kaisekeller. Also appearing on the same billing? The Beatles, who were a smaller act, and even received less pay than the Hurricanes. On October 15, 1960, two weeks after their introduction, Ringo Starr played and recorded with Lennon, McCartney, and Harrison... and the rest is history.
This original business card was printed by Downbeat Promotions of Liverpool in 1959 and features the band name in large lettering on the front as well as a small list of achievements from 1957-1959 on verso. It was sold by Tracks Auction in the Nov. 2014 sale and is guaranteed authentic. It will be shipped in its accompanying plastic sleeve with lot number and date of sale.

Front:
NEAR MINT-
Beautiful condition with minimal aging. There are a few small spotting areas, but hardly anything noticeable. The ink is still very dark and unfaded. The corners are all perfectly sharp.
Rear:
EXCELLENT
The back does have a small amount of mellowing and some wear spots. However, it is still in absolutely fantastic condition for its age.
