2 Vintage LGBTQ Pin Buttons GMHC. In 1981 eighty men gather in writer Larry Kramer’s apartment to address the “gay cancer” and to raise money for research. This informal meeting provided the foundation of what would soon become Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC). These buttons were put out by GMHC to help fight the AIDS crisis. (Safer Sex - Keep it Up is from 1990. It is a square button measuring 1 1/2” by 1 1/2”. Men Use Condoms or Beat It is undated. It is a round button measuring 1 3/8” in diameter).
