    Description

Seven-Eighths Inch Celluloid Political Pin "For Governor C. H. Dietrich". Charles Henry Dietrich was President of the German National Bank in Hastings Nebraska when he became the Republican nominee for Governor of Nebraska in 1900. Dietrich upset incumbent Governor William Poynter by a vote of 113,879 to 113,018. Dietrich did not serve long because he resigned in 1901 to seek a seat in the United States Senate. There was a bribery charge before he took his seat, alleging that Dietrich had accepted a bribe in exchange for a postmaster job. A friendly judge dismissed the charges claiming that the bribery occurred after Dietrich was elected but before he was sworn in. Button is in good to fair condition. Button still has its original back paper from the Whitehead & Hoag Company. Buyer will pay for shipping.
